Customer dashboard

The Customer dashboard now includes two new options :

1. Reset Old license (for v3.0 and v4.0 only)
This option can be used to reset the udiMagic license from the Server, if the user is unable to surrender the license using the licensing utility. Earlier, the udiMagic v3.0 / v4.0 users had to write to us by email for reset of the license.

PS:
a. This option is applicable for udiMagic v3.0 and v4.0 (i.e. old versions) only.
b. There is no need / option to surrender license in the latest udiMagic software.

2. Ratings (for v9.0 onwards)
This option is for Rating the udiMagic software and providing feedback / review.

It is requested of the udiMagic users to provide their feedback / review and rate the udiMagic software.

Upgradation of udi-Magic v3.0 / v4.0 to the latest version was discontinued from 1/1/2017. However, due to implementation of GST in India and requests from several udi-Magic users, the upgradation was allowed from 1st July 2017 onwards.

We wish to intimate that the upgradation from udi-Magic v3.0 / v4.0 to the latest version shall be allowed upto 31/12/2017 only. Thereafter, users will have to buy new license of udi-Magic, if they wish to use the new features/version.

No support (telephonic, email, or otherwise) shall be available for udi-Magic v3.0 / v4.0.

1. Group Names
This allows you to specify the Group/parent Name for Party Ledgers, Sales/Purchase and Taxes ledgers; and StockItems. The default values are :

Party Ledgers : Default group is Sundry Debtors (or Sundry Creditors)
Sales Ledgers : Default group is Sales Accounts
Purchase Ledgers : Default group is Purchase Accounts
Tax Ledgers : Default group is Duties & Taxes
StockItems : There is no default StockGroup (i.e. it is kept empty)

2. Tax Classification details (Override at Voucher level)
This feature allows you to specify / override the Tax-type and Tax-rates at the Voucher-level.

Notes
a. Tally ERP 9 allows you to define / specify the tax rates at different levels viz Ledger level; StockItem level; Company level etc.
b. If you are using Sales / Purchase with Inventory, then it is advised that you specify the tax-rates at the StockItem level.
c. If you are using Sales / Purchase without Inventory, then the tax-rates must be specified at the ledger level.

d. You can override the tax-type; tax-rate; taxable amount at the Voucher level using this feature.

3. Voucher Class

A new column has been kept to specify the Voucher class.

Cause of Error
The aforesaid error occurs when Freight / Courier / shipping charges ledger is specified in Sales Invoice which has different tax-rate from the tax-rate applicable to the Stockitems in that Sales Invoice,

Solution
The aforesaid bug has been rectified and the revised templates are available in udi-Magic v8.0 Release 3.2

Duplicate States in B2C (Small) Invoices in GSTR-1 in Tally ERP

Recently, we noticed that the GSTR-1 report displays duplicate State names in the table B2C (Small) Invoices. Here's a screen snapshot of it.

The aforesaid problem occurs when Sales data is imported using udi-Magic Software wherein the State Name is specified in mixed letters. Example: GUJARAT, Gujarat, gujarat.

Solution
This problem has been rectified in the udi-Magic v8.0 Release 3.1

Clarifications on udi-Magic Upgradation

If you have recently upgraded or wish to upgrade to udi-Magic v8.0, please read the following point carefully :

1. Upgradation includes udi-Magic v8.0 with latest Standard templates as available currently, but does NOT include any modifications in the Standard templates or Customized templates provided earlier.

2. Here's an example :

Customer A purchased udi-Magic in 2012 and got some customization done. The Customer paid for udi-Magic Software and also for the Customization work. Now, the Customer wants to upgrade to udi-Magic v8.0.

Clarifications

a. Upgradation will allow Customer A to use the latest version with the latest Standard templates. However, this does NOT include any modifications in the Standard templates or Customized templates provided to the user earlier.

b. Modifications in the Standard or Customized templates will on chargeable basis. However, due to the workload, we are currently unable to provide modifications or customization (on chargeable basis) and request Customers to use the available Standard templates.

You can specify the Party Code in the field. [This field is optional]

2. Part Number
You can specify the StockItem Part Number here. [This field is optional]

3. Bill-wise details
You can enter the Bill No; Date; Amount and Credit period when "Maintain Bill-wise details" is enabled in Tally. [These fields are optional]

The precedence for assigning Bill-wise details in Tally is as follows :
a. If Bill-wise details are specified in XLS, then these values are set in Tally.
b. If Bill-wise details are NOT specified in XLS, then :

For Sales: The VCHNO and VCHDATE are taken as the Bill-No and Bill-Date
For Purchase: The REFNO and REFDATE are taken as the Bill-No and Bill-Date

4. Payment and Receipt entries
Now payment and receipt entries are also supported in this template. The payment and receipt entries can be recorded with or without Stockitems.

Example of Payment
You can now record a purchase transaction using the "Purchase or Payment" voucher-type. This is generally useful for recording Cash Payment transactions.

Example of Receipt
You can now record a sales transaction using the "Sales or Receipt" voucher-type. This is generally useful for recording Cash Receipt transactions.

Tax Analysis not printed in Tally Invoice

Query
I have imported the StockItems using the Master-StockItemMaster.xls template; but while printing the Invoice, the Tax Computation (at the bottom) is NOT displayed / printed.

Solution
In the Master-StockItemMaster.xls file, put 0 (zero) in the Column CESS-RATE (Column AV) and then re-import the data from Master-StockItemMaster.xls.

Next, re-print the Invoice.

Auto Rounding-Off
This feature allows automatic "Rounding off" to the nearest rupee. The default value is Yes.

The GST tax ledgers are now created without the tax-rates in Ledger Master. This allows you to have one common GST Tax ledger instead of multiple GST Tax ledgers in Invoice.

Description : Specify the StockItem Name or Part Number for which you want to update / set GST Taxes and other values.
Remarks:
1. If you already have StockItems in Tally and want to set / update the GST details or other fields, you can specify the Part Number or Item Name, and other details as required.
2. Mandatory for modifying StockItem and optional while creating new StockItems.

Field : UT Tax
Description : Specify the UT Tax rate (i.e. union territory tax)
Remarks : As STATE TAX is for States, the UT-TAX is for Union territories.

Issues Fixed : Tax Computation not displayed / printed in Invoice printing
Remarks : The Tax Analysis was not displayed (at the bottom) in the Invoice printing, if CESS-RATE field is kept empty. This issue has been fixed now.

The aforesaid problem has been resolved by Tally Solutions in Tally ERP 9 Release 6.0.2

Release Notes

The HSN/SAC was not displayed in the printed invoice when it was recorded with:

o     Stock items predefined with HSN/SAC.

o     Sales/purchase ledgers predefined only with tax rate and not the HSN/SAC.

This issue is resolved. Now, if the HSN/SAC is not defined in the sales/purchase ledger, but is available in any of the masters linked to the transaction, the same will be printed in the invoice.

INTRODUCING UDIMAGIC V8.0

We are pleased to announce the launch of udi-Magic v8.0. The details are as under :-

NEW TEMPLATE(s)
A new template for Flipkart Settlement / Receipts has been included in udi-Magic v8.0 as shown below :

Template Name: Vouchers-Flipkart-Receipts-and-Journal.xls
XML-File Name : Vouchers-Flipkart-Receipts-and-Journal-xml-tags.xml

Steps:
1. Download and install udi-Magic v8.0
2. Copy/paste your Flipkart settlement data into aforesaid template / xls.
3. Start udi-Magic v8.0
4. Go to "Excel to Tally >> Import data into Tally"
5. Select files :
Excel File: Vouchers-Flipkart-Receipts-and-Journal.xls
XML-File : Vouchers-Flipkart-Receipts-and-Journal-xml-tags.xml 

6. Click the Start button to import data into Tally.

Remarks:
For each Settlement Number, two entries are posted in Tally .i.e.one entry for Receipt voucher and another for Journal voucher.

SUPPORT FOR TALLY ERP 9 RELEASE 5.5.8 AND GST
udi-Magic v8.0 works with Tally ERP 9 Release 5.5.8 (latest release at the time of this post).

The GST related updations shall be made available in udi-Magic v8.0 as and when the GST features are made available in the Tally ERP.

SUPPORT FOR EXCEL 2016
udi-Magic v8.0 works with Excel 2016 (32-bit and 64-bit)

How to fetch the Tally Serial Number ?

SQL SELECT Statement

Remarks:
You can use the aforesaid SELECT Statement to fetch the Tally Serial using "Tally ODBC" or "Calculator panel" in Tally.

Calculate VAT on MRP

Applicable to : Tally ERP 9 Release 5.5.6

Recently, we noticed some issues while using the "Calc VAT on MRP" feature. We posted two SALES INVOICEs in Tally, the details being as follows :

Remarks
As it can be seen, the VAT amount is incorrectly computed when we specify VAT + Addl Tax in the StockItem Master and "Calc VAT on MRP" is enabled.

VAT 5% => Rs 11.91 (Correct VAT in Sale Voucher 1)
VAT 4+1% => Rs 12.02 (Incorrect VAT in Sale Voucher 2)

Workaround
A workaround is to disable the "Calc VAT on MRP"  and enable "Is Inclusive of duties and taxes" only in the StockItem Master. This way, VAT is computed correctly in both the situations as mentioned above.

Inclusive of VAT

A new option "Allow inclusive of tax for stock Items" has been included in Tally ERP 9 Release 5.0 onwards. This allows you to prepare Sales Invoice with Rate inclusive of VAT.

Tally ERP 9 Release 5.0
1. Go to Stockitem creation/alteration
2. Press F12 [Config]. This displays the Stockitem Configuration screen as shown underneath :

3. Enable "Allow inclusive of tax for stock items" as shown above.

4. Back in the Stockitem screen, enable VAT Applicable and specify the VAT Rate using "Set/alter VAT details"
5. Next, set "Is inclusive of duties and taxes" to Yes

Tally ERP 9 Release 5.0

Tally ERP 9 Release 4.92 or lower
1. Go to Stockitem creation/alteration
2. Press F12 [Config]

This displays the Stockitem Configuration screen as shown underneath (without the Inclusive option) :

Remarks:
The "Is inclusive of duties and taxes" is NOT there in Tally ERP 9 Release 4.92

Incorrect Unit (UOM) when importing data into Tally

Query:
I am importing Sales/Purchase Vouchers with StockItems  using one of the Standard templates provided with udi-Magic. For a specific voucher in the XLS file, the UOM is specified as "Nos", but when I check the entry imported in Tally, it shows the UOM incorrectly as "Kgs".
Ans:
This would happen if the StockItem already exists in Tally with UOM as Kgs.

You must manually change the UOM in the StockItem Master. And this is only possible if there are no vouchers entries for that StockItem.

Cannot alter unit for Item x

The aforesaid error generally appears while :

Uploading "StockItem Masters" into a Tally Company; which already contains the same StockItem but with a different unit of measurement.

Here's a example :

StockItem with name "Item A" exists in Tally Company having Unit of Measurement (UOM) as "Nos". Let's now try to modify it's UOM to Kgs. As you can see below, the cursor does NOT go the the Unit field.

Remarks:
This is a restriction in Tally Software. You cannot alter the UOM of a StockItem if one or more records / vouchers exist which contain that StockItem

Additional Tax in Tally ERP 9

Of late, we noticed some changes in the Ledger Entry screen while creating "Additional Tax" ledger. The same is as follows :

Tally ERP 9 Release 5.4

As you can see, in Tally ERP 9 Release 5.4, the "Type of duty" is to be set as "Additional Tax".

Tally ERP 9 Release 4.93

In Tally ERP 9 Release 4.93, the "Type of duty" is to be set as "VAT" and "Additional Tax" is to be specified in another field "Method of Calculation".

And here is the difference in the XML tags :
